The resultsI picked up Laurel and her friend Eliza from school on Friday. THey had so much fun playing with barbies, dress up, watching barbie movies and all things little girls like to do. All went well and we took Eliza home. I went to the gym later on that night and then received THE call. Kerry " are you sitting down?" me " well, I'm in my car. " Kerry,"i think you need to pull over" me "why?" Kerry, " i need to tell you what your daughter did". Me "what?" Kerry, " she cut off all her hair". SILENCE. I sat in silence. I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time and had never experienced that feeling. Have you? I don't think it can possibly happen unless you have kids! I have laughed so hard I cried, but NEVER have I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time.
I continued the drive home (received therapy from Kelli and Mom the rest of the drive)and arrived home to attempt to talk to Laurel about her decision to cut her hair. She told Kerry she wanted it short because Eliza's was short. She never could give me a reason. Sunday morning, I discovered that she is going through an " I don't want to be different" phase, as she uncovered the fact that she has an 'outty' belly button and the rest of her family has an 'inny'. She also revealed that now that her hair is short, there is only one little girl left with long hair. Who knew I needed a manual for a nearly 5 year old. Is there a "dummies" book for parents of five year olds? I'm positive I need a manual to prepare me for what is next!
